Sailfish Storm Back To Defeat Eckerd, 3-2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer trailed 2-0 early in the second half at Eckerd but were able to turn the tide and scored three times in a 12-minute stretch to win 3-2 and improve to 13-1 and 7-1 in the SSC.

Eckerd (4-8-1, 2-6 SSC) got on the board late in the first half as Nick Reinauer scored off an assist from Juan Tejada. Just 2:41 into the second half the Tritons went ahead 2-0 as Agustin Pertusso connected on a through ball and beat Sailfish keeper Elliott Barker.

For the fourth time this season the Sailfish battled back from a deficit in a conference match. Claudio Rivadeneira got the comeback in motion after dancing with the ball on the left side of the field, he cut inside and ripped a shot through the defense and past the keeper for his sixth goal of the season.

Five minutes later in the 69th minute it was the late-magic again from Jack Burrows as he once again gathered a deflected ball in front of the net and buried it. His sixth goal of the season tied the match at 2-2.

In the 76th minute it was Rivadeneira again as he blasted a ball from distance to put the 'Fish on top and give PBA their third straight win. Rivadeneira finished the night with two goals and an assist. Rafael Souza was also credited with assist on the night.

Elliott Barker made two saves in the match, both in the first half as Eckerd was limited to four shots in the second half and just nine in match. PBA took 20 shots overall and 12 in the second half as they were mounting their comeback. Eckerd's Mason Debaets made eight of the team's nine saves on the night.

PBA continues to sit atop the SSC standings with 21 points. Nova Southeastern and Lynn are tied for second with 18 points with Barry in fourth with 16. All four of those teams have two matches remaining in league play.

The Sailfish will step out of conference action on Tuesday as they take on Keiser in a road match at 3 p.m.
