Sailfish Pick Up Sweep of Sharks in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 18 Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball got back in the win column on Tuesday night, as they swept Nova Southeastern on the road.  The Sailfish improve to 7-3 in Sunshine State Conference play and 15-3 overall with the victory as NSU drops to 4-13 on the season.

The 'Fish got a great first set from Amber Rowoldt, who picked up kills on the first and last points of the set.  Rowoldt finished with five total kills in the set as the 'Fish led by as many as nine and cruised to a 25-20 victory.

It was Raegan Grooms and Jennie Anderson that led the attack in the second set for the Sailfish, as the duo combined for nine kills and no errors as the 'Fish took the second frame 25-18.

Anderson found her groove in the second set and continued it into the third, as the redshirt-sophomore tallied kills on five of the first six Sailfish points in the third and final set.  PBA hit .319 in the final set and won 25-17 to complete the sweep.

Anderson finished with 11 kills and no errors in just 17 attacks on the night.  Grooms and Rowoldt totaled 10 kills each, as Grooms added four service aces against the Sharks.  Maddie Span joined Anderson with an incredibly efficient night, as the senior finished with eight kills without making an error.

Molly Burkhardt finished with a whopping 43 assists in the three-set match, and Sailfish libero Lilly Turner led the 'Fish with 16 digs.

PBA will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 5 inside Rubin Arena as they will host Eckerd College at 7 p.m.
