Sailfish Lead Throughout, Defeat Rollins 80-68

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic never trailed as they won their third straight game, taking down Rollins College 80-68 on Wednesday night.

The Sailfish (10-8, 4-3 SSC) grabbed the lead less than 30 seconds into the game on a triple from Dakota Zinser and never looked back. The 'Fish pushed the lead out to 16 on several occasions in the first half, the first at 28-12 with 9:47 to go as Marshall Riddle connected on one of his three 3's in the half. Riddle finished with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from deep.

The Tars (8-7, 4-3 SSC) cut into the Sailfish lead but still trailed 41-33 at the half. PBA shot 56 percent in the first half with Rollins making 43.8 percent. In the second half the 'Fish didn't let up, shooting 56 percent after the break despite cooling off from deep. PBA made six of their eight treys in the first half while Rollins made four in each half.

Rollins made things interesting in the second half, cutting the Sailfish lead down to two. Late in the game the Sailfish led by three at 66-63 with 4:40 to play and that's when they put the game away. Riddle hit another 3 that started a 9-2 run that put them up 10 with less than a minute to go.

Grant Gullett was the catalyst as he led all players with 20 points and 13 rebounds. He took just eight shots, making six but got to the free throw line 14 times where he cashed in eight times. The Sailfish dominated the glass, pulling in 42 rebounds to just 26 for Rollins.

Jules Jasmin added 15 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Sailfish. The freshman made 6-of-7 from the floor. Bakari Warthen added eight points and nine rebounds while Lucas Morales led the team with six assists. He added four points, seven rebounds and three blocks. PBA had 18 assists on 27 made field goals with Matthew Johnson adding four of his own.

The Sailfish are back in action on Saturday as they make the trip across the state to Tampa to take on the Spartans at 4 p.m.
