MELBOURNE, Fla. – Jules Jasmin scored a season-high 27 points as the Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team picked up a big road win over Florida Tech, 93-79, on Saturday evening.
Jasmin scored 16 of his game-high 27 in the first half as the Sailfish (9-8, 3-3 SSC) took control late in the half and led 50-36 at the break. PBA used a 14-4 run late in the half to take a 15 point lead on a triple by De'Ondre Jackson. Jackson scored five in the half and finished the game with 12 points including knocking down two treys.
In the second half the Sailfish pushed their lead out to 17 at 67-50 with just over 13 minutes to play. The Panthers () fought back to close the gap to six at 75-69 with 5:44 to go but that's as close as they would get. Marshall Riddle knocked down one of his four 3's with just over four minutes to play to push the lead back into double figures before Jasmin scored eight down the stretch including a pair of dunks to seal the victory.
Jasmin – a freshman – finished 12-of-15 from the floor and also grabbed six rebounds and three steals. PBA shot 54 percent from the floor including a 60 percent clip in the second half. Riddle finished with 14 points as he connected on 4-of-8 from long range. Jackson added 12 points in just 14 minutes of action, making 5-of-8 from the floor and 2-of-4 from deep.
The Sailfish had ten players that scored in the game including eight that made a field goal. Five different players made a three as the team made 10-of-26 overall. Bakari Warthen led the team with eight rebounds while Matthew Johnson dished out six assists and collected six steals.
The Sailfish are back in action on Wednesday when Rollins College visits Rubin Arena for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
