No. 10 Sailfish Win Second Straight, Sweep Sharks

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Sailfish volleyball continued their strong weekend with a sweep of Nova Southeastern on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 10 team in Division II improved to 24-3 on the season and 16-3 in the SSC.

PBA held the Sharks (6-19, 4-14 SSC) to a .044 attack percentage in the match including hitting zero in the third set. The Sailfish hit .248 in the match including a .341 clip in the final set. Raegan Grooms led the offense with 12 kills and also collected 12 digs while Ally Rohn led all players with 18 digs.

The 'Fish led big early in set one, taking a 13-5 lead in the early stages before extending the margin to nine at 21-12. The Sharks answered with seven straight and nine of 10 to close the gap to 22-21 but Sarah Kimmey put an end to that run with a kill and a block alongside Jazz Schmidt before Grooms finished off the set with her fifth kill.

NSU was able to take a lead in set two before a 7-0 run by the Sailfish broke things open as the 'Fish took an 18-14 lead. PBA pushed the lead out to six moments later before an ace from Rohn ended the set. PBA finished the match with six aces as Rohn and Grooms both had two.

In the third the Sailfish scored six of the final seven points to secure the victory. Kimmey finished the match with seven kills as did Schmidt. That duo along with Maddie Span each finished with two blocks as PBA finished with just four team blocks in the match. Molly Burkhardt finished with 35 assists. Lilly Turner recorded 13 digs as she started for the first time at libero.

The 'Fish will close out the regular season on Thursday at Lynn at 7 p.m.
