Sailfish Dominate Lynn To Close Out Regular Season

BOCA RATON, Fla. – No. 10 Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball wrapped up their regular season with a 3-0 victory over Lynn University on Thursday night, 25-12, 25-16, 25-18. The Sailfish close out the regular season at 25-3 and 17-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.

PBA held Lynn to just a .036 attack percentage on the night as the Sailfish got off to a fast start in set one, hitting .478 in the set and finishing the match at .260. Ally Rohn led the offense with 10 kills as five players recorded at least five kills on the night.

Sarah Kimmey finished with nine total blocks as the 'Fish set the tone at the net with 12 team blocks. Kimmey also added eight kills on 12 attempts. Jazz Schmidt added four blocks and five kills while Maddie Span collected three blocks and seven kills. Raegan Grooms and Molly Burkhardt each had three blocks as Grooms added six kills, three aces and seven digs.

Burkhardt set up the offense with 34 assists and collected three kills and eight digs. Lilly Turner led the back row defense with 15 digs as she made her second straight start at libero. Rohn added 10 digs to record her 23rd double-double of the season.

The Sailfish used a 9-0 run early in set one to take control of the set at 13-4 and later used a 7-0 run to put the set out of reach, pushing the lead to 12 at 23-11. More runs followed in set two as the 'Fish scored four straight on three separate occasions in the set as PBA led by as much as nine in the second. Lynn pulled within one in the third at 13-12 but PBA scored five straight moments later to take a 20-13 lead.

PBA will await their NCAA postseason fate as the 2017 NCAA Division II Volleyball Selection Show will be streamed live on NCAA.com on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
