DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball topped 100 points for the second straight game as they won their third straight, 101-87 over Mississippi College.
The win has the 'Fish at 3-2 overall this season while MC falls to 0-2. PBA led for the final 29 minutes after trailing early. The Choctaws never led by more than four points in the first half. The 'Fish used a 12-2 run in the first half to talk a six point lead at 28-22 before pushing it out to as much as 14. PBA led 45-36 at the break as Jules Jasmin led the Sailfish with 12 points in the first half.
PBA opened things up in the second half as they shot 60 percent in the half and made 6-of-11 from long range. The Sailfish continued to control the game as they increased their lead out to 25 near the midway point of the half. Dakota Zinser scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half as the senior connected on three triples.
The Sailfish had five players reach double figures in scoring in the victory with five more players scoring. Jasmin led the 'Fish with 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds. The freshman made 8-of-9 from the free throw line and made half of his 12 field goal attempts. In addition to Zinser, Grant Gullett, Malek Barber and De'Ondre Jackson all finished in double figures. Gullett added 14 points while Barber and Jackson each had 10.
The 'Fish assisted on 19 of their 34 made field goals as they shot 52.3 percent overall. Nine players collected an assist for the Sailfish with Bakari Warthen leading the way with four. PBA got to the free throw line 29 times where they made 25 while MC only had 12 attempts from the charity stripe.
PBA will be back on the court on Wednesday as they host Embry-Riddle in their home and conference opener. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
