WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Six players scored in double figures as the Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball picked up their fourth straight win, a 92-70 victory over Embry-Riddle on Wednesday night. The Sailfish improve to 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in the SSC while the Eagles drop to 2-1 and 0-1 in the SSC.
PBA never trailed in the game and were in the lead for 38:55 after Grant Gullett scored the first bucket of the game. The Sailfish pushed the lead out to double digits quickly as Marshall Riddle connected on the first of his four 3-pointers to give PBA a 12-2 lead with 15:02 to play in the first half. After the Eagles cut the gap to five midway through the half, the 'Fish pushed it back out to 11 at halftime.
Gullett led the way in the half as six players made a field goal before halftime. Gullett scored 10 of his 12 in the opening half as Johnson added nine of his 11 in the first half. The Sailfish connected on four triples in the half and shot 45 percent while holding the Eagles to 38 percent.
In the second half the Sailfish poured it on, pushing the margin out to 20 at 59-39 with 13:19 to play. The Eagles cut the gap to 11 with six minutes to play the Sailfish but PBA responded with a 8-1 run to push the lead back to 18 and out of reach.
The 'Fish made 63 percent of their field goals in the second half including 6-of-10 from long range as they pulled away. Bakari Warthen scored 13 of his 14 in the second half as Jules Jasmin added 11 of his team-high 16 in the second half. Riddle added three treys in the second half to finish with 14 points.
Johnson led the team with five assists as Warthen added four. The team had 20 assists on 37 made field goals. Gullett led the team with eight rebounds while Dakota Zinser and Lucas Morales added six each. Zinser added 11 points in the game for the Sailfish.
PBA will be back on the road as they travel to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
