Volleyball Bounces Back With a Four-Set Win Over Barry

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 10 Palm Beach Atlantic snapped a two-match slide with a 3-1 victory over Barry University on Friday night. The Sailfish took down the Bucs after dropping the first set 25-20 to win the next three 25-13, 25-18, 25-18.

The Sailfish improve to 23-3 overall and 15-3 in the SSC while Barry falls to 10-12 and 6-11 in the conference.

After struggling in the first set the 'Fish saw the offense respond in the second, hitting .367 as Sarah Kimmey picked up four of her match-high 12 kills. Kimmey finished with a .350 attack percentage and also led the team with six blocks.

The Sailfish were held without a block in the opening set before recording three, five and four in the final three sets to finish with 12 as a team. In addition to Kimmey, Maddie Span added five and Jazz Schmidt finished with five as well. Span was also effective on offense with nine kills and just one error to finish with a .444 attack.

Raegan Grooms added 11 kills and Ally Rohn finished with 10 as the team finished the match hitting .226. Rohn also led the team with 13 digs. Molly Burkhardt added 10 digs to go along with 43 assists and four kills. Susie Forbes added 12 digs and four assists.

The Sailfish collected seven aces on the night with Schmidt leading the way with four.

PBA will close out their home schedule with a 4 p.m. match against Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The Sailfish will honor their five seniors: Amy Schatzmann, Sarah Kimmey, Susie Fobes, Abby Palkert and Lauren Alberti before the match.
