DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball won their second game in a row on Friday, defeating Paine by a score of 110-73. The Sailfish improve to 2-3 on the season with the win over the Lions at the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout.
The Sailfish offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half on Friday, as they shot 61 percent (23-of-38) from the field in the first period and took a 53-30 lead into the break. De'Ondre Jackson led the way in the half, as the sophomore made seven of his eight shots and scored 15 points in the half. The 'Fish shot 7-of-15 from long range in the opening 20 minutes. The Sailfish defense also played well, forcing 13 Paine turnovers in the half.
The Sailfish scored 57 points in the second half on Friday, and shot even better than in their impressive first half against the Lions. Dakota Zinser and Grant Gullett led the 'Fish with 12 points each in the second half, as both shot 3-of-4 from the field. Zinser finished with 20 points overall and made 5-of-7 three-point attempts. Jackson had a perfect second half from the floor, as he finished with a game-high 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting.
Bakari Warthen finished with 10 points on Friday, and added five assists on the night. Casey Carpinello had a perfect night off the bench for the 'Fish, scoring nine points on 3-of-3 shooting. Lucas Morales had a solid all-around game for the Sailfish, as the senior scored just three points, but added eight boards and six assists in the contest.
The Sailfish will return to action tomorrow as they will close out their play in Daytona Beach with a game against Mississippi College at 2 p.m.
