'Fish Pick Up Road Win in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball picked up their second straight win and won for the 19th straight time on the road with a 3-0 win over Florida Tech on Tuesday. The Sailfish defeated the Panthers 25-19, 25-14, 25-20.

The 'Fish improved to 22-1 overall and 14-1 in the SSC while FIT falls to 9-12 overall and 4-11 in league play.

PBA outhit Florida Tech on the night with 34 kills and a .210 attack percentage while the Panthers struggled to just 28 kills and a .069 percentage. The Sailfish held FIT to a negative .025 attack in the final set. PBA hit their highest mark in the second hit with a .423 percentage.

It was a balanced attack that lifted PBA on the night with Ally Rohn leading the way with eight kills. Four other players recorded at least five kills on the night with Maddie Span and Sophie Hoekstra both doing so with zero errors. Span hit .556 on the night while Hoekstra checked in at .357. Raegan Grooms also finished with five kills while Sarah Kimmey added six.

Six different players recorded an ace on the night with Susie Forbes collecting two. Forbes also led the team with 16 digs. The defense finished with 48 digs on the night with Grooms and Rohn each collecting nine with Lauren Alberti adding seven. The defense also recorded eight team blocks as Kimmey led the way with four. Span and Hoekstra each provided three blocks.

PBA moves on to take on Florida Southern on Friday at 7 p.m. in Lakeland. The 'Fish won the first meeting this year 3-0 in September. Both teams will enter the match with just one loss in conference play.
