WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 4 Palm Beach Atlantic continued their winning ways on Tuesday, taking down Rollins College 3-1 in the Sailfish's return to Rubin Arena.
The 'Fish (18-0, 10-0 SSC) beat the Tars (7-10, 4-6 SSC) for the second time this season, finishing with set scores 25-17, 24-26, 25-16, 25-22. PBA hit .298 as a team while holding Rollins to a .162 clip as the Sailfish collected 12 total blocks.
PBA dominated in the odd sets but struggled in sets two and four. In the final set the 'Fish led 22-14 before allowing the Tars to score six straight to pull within two points.
Maddie Span closed out the match with one of her 12 kills on the night. Span added six blocks to go along with her .600 attack percentage on the night.
Sarah Kimmey hit .455 and collected 12 kills and six blocks including recording six kills in the third set as PBA blew it open in the middle of the set. The Sailfish trailed in the set 11-10 before scoring 14 of the final 20 points. Kimmey added two kills during a 7-0 stretch for the 'Fish.
Eight players recorded a kill for PBA with five reaching at least eight.
Ally Rohn led the way with 14 as she recorded her eighth triple double of the season with 28 assists and 20 digs. She surpassed the 1,000 kill mark for her career during the match as the junior becomes the seventh player in NCAA II to reach 1,000 kills, 1,000 digs and 1,000 assists during their career since 2003.
Jazz Schmidt collected nine kills while
Abby Palkert added eight on just 14 attempts.
Susie Forbes led the team with 24 digs while
Lauren Alberti added 12.
Molly Burkhardt had a double double with a team-high 30 assists to go along with 11 digs. She also added five kills.
Sophie Hoekstra collected six kills in the match along with three assists and two digs.
The Sailfish are back in action on Saturday as they take on Lynn inside Rubin Arena. The match has been moved up from 4 p.m. to a 1 p.m. start.
