INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The ‘Fish are dancing for the fourth straight year after being named the top-seed in the 2015 South Region Volleyball Tournament on Monday (Nov. 23). The Sailfish will host the first three rounds of the national tournament beginning on Dec. 3 inside Rubin Arena.
The Sailfish wrapped up the regular season at 26-4 overall including a 24-3 mark in regional competition. PBA climbed all the way to No. 9 in the AVCA Top-25 this season, their highest position in school history. The Sailfish are No. 13 in the final regular season poll.
The season was highlighted by two wins over traditional powers of D2 volleyball, first opening the season with a win over seven-time national champion Concordia-St. Paul in Minnesota, 3-2. The ‘Fish followed that up with a win over then-No. 5 Tampa in Rubin Arena on Nov. 6, sweeping the Spartans in their first trip to West Palm Beach.
PBA has made two of the past three South Regional Championships matches, falling to Tampa in both 2012 and 2014. The Spartans went on to claim the 2014 NCAA National Championship, their second.
The ‘Fish will face No. 8 seed Kentucky State, the champions from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in their first round matchup scheduled for Dec. 3. Time is still to be determined and will be released when available.
The rest of the field includes: No. 2 Tampa vs. No. 7 Eckerd, No. 3 Florida Southern vs. North Alabama and No. 4 Saint Leo vs. No. 5 West Florida.
