WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Sailfish volleyball team put an exclamation point on a solid 3-0 week by defeating Southeastern (Fla.) University on Saturday evening before a big crowd at the Rubin Arena. Palm Beach Atlantic started the first set on a 13-1 run and never looked back as they improved their undefeated streak to start the season to 12-0.

Having already played three sets earlier in the day against West Palm Beach neighbor Northwood University the Fire (8-5) didn’t have enough left in the tank to compete against the Sailfish who closed out the 3-0 win with three lopsided victories of 25-10, 25-9 and 25-16.

Overall for the match PBA connected for a .333 (40 kills, 10 errors, 90 attempts) team attacking percentage while limiting SEU to a .000 (21 kills, 21 errors, 89 attempts) mark.

In what has become synonymous with the ‘Fish this season the team was once again led by a balanced offensive attack.

Sophomore Katie Ballantyne continues to make a name for herself as an outside-hitter as she led all hitters on Saturday with 11 kills while finishing with only two errors and a .500 attacking percentage.

Joining her atop the team leaderboard in kills was Faith Rohn (8), Stephany Brown (7), Emma Ballantyne (6) and Sarah Ragland (5) all producing solid numbers.

Senior setter Becca Acevedo continued to direct the offense as she produced 34 assists while adding in a service ace. Junior Rachael Holehouse continues to impress as well as she produced 19 digs, two aces and two assists in the win.

Other defensive standouts included Rohn with six digs, Melissa Buckingham with four digs and Susie Forbes chipping in with two digs and three service aces. Ragland led all front-line players with a total of five blocks (four assists, one solo).

After defeating a pair of NAIA opponents in their past two matches against Northwood and Southeastern the Blue and White will get back to in-region competition next week with a road match at Barry University on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd followed by hosting Rollins College on Saturday, Sept. 27th at the Rubin Arena.
