LAKE WALES, Fla.- The newly-formed Palm Beach Atlantic women’s golf team got their spring season kicked off over the weekend by participating in the 10th annual Start 2 Finish Classic hosted by Webber International University. Four Sailfish golfers took to the Lake Wales Country Club where they finished fifth.
Allie Puchferran, a native of Boca Raton, Fla. led the team’s efforts with a two-round score of 180 as she tallied scores of 88-92 and finished tied for 15th in the field. She was followed by Hayley Betz at 195 (92-103), Jenny Kowal at 230 (110-120) and Bailey Sprague at 295 (142-153).
Under the leadership of Craig Watson, the Sailfish women are in their first season as a NCAA-sponsored varsity sport.
Centre College took the team honors with a 652 team score followed by Southeastern University (668) and Webber International (678) in the top three. Mackenzie Cohen of Centre College earned medalist honors with a 155 (77-78), four strokes ahead of Warner’s Angela Gaines who finished second.
They will be back in action this weekend by participating in the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational in Ormond Beach, Fla.
