WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Sailfish kicked off the National Christian College Athletic Association Regional Tournament in dominating fashion, riding six first half goals to a 7-0 victory over Columbia International on Wednesday afternoon at Magic Jack Field.

PBA wasted little time to get going, with Kenny Hogg scoring off a set piece from Kevin Ireland in the 12th minute. Hogg went on to add two more in the half, running his season total up to an NCAA Division II leading 28.

Evan Singlar continued his torrid finish to the end of the regular season, scoring his sixth goal of the season in the 21st minute, while adding his team-leading twelfth assist on the year later in the half.

Sophomore defender Branden Langenberg notched his first goal of the season in the 37th minute off an assist from freshman Ben Vogeney. Vogeney would add another assist a few minutes later on Hogg’s third goal.

Sophomore Melo Matutu scored his third goal of the year in the waning minutes of the first half off an assist from Hogg, making it 6-0 at half.

Palm Beach Atlantic left the second half to the reserves, with the lone goal coming from a beautiful play by the senior duo of Gabe Carniero and Shem Alexander. Alexander sent a perfect pass through to a streaking Carniero to give PBA its seventh and final goal.

On the match, PBA outshot Columbia International 27-4, including a 15-2 mark in shots on goal. The Sailfish used a combination of Austin Spagnola and Jonathan Strunk to record the shutout, with each recording a save.

PBA will take on the winner of Emmanuel College and Point University in the regional semi-final on Thursday at 11:30 A.M. at Magic Jack Field.
