WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team had four players honored on the All-South Region team on Tuesday afternoon.
Tin Vastic,
Juan Hermoso,
Flavio Giannini, and
Niklas Mahler all received honors.
Tin Vastic named to the first team, had 13 goals on the season and one assist. The junior forward scored some big goals for the Sailfish, including a hat trick at Wingate and the overtime winner in the SSC quarterfinals against Florida Southern.
Juan Hermoso SSC defender of the year, was named to the first team as well. Hermoso played in every game for the 'Fish and was a stalwart on the back line while also tallying 5 goals on the season. He had the game-winning goal against Tusculum early in the season, two goals against Florida Tech and the late equalizer against Rollins.
Flavio Giannini, SSC keeper of the year, rounds out the Sailfish named to the first team. Giannini sported a .814 save percentage on the year with 48 saves and 11 goals allowed in 17 games played. He also had 8 clean sheets.
Niklas Mahler, named to the second team, played a big part for the Sailfish squad. Mahler played well on both sides of the ball with five goal contributions while also being defensively responsible. Mahler had the lone Sailfish goal in a draw at Tampa and the game-winning goal in the regular season title clincher at Nova Southeastern. He also had three assists on the year, two of which came in the 2-0 win against Lynn.
