WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- After limiting the Sailfish women’s basketball team to only fifteen first-half points and a 25 percent shooting effort, Eckerd College would do enough in the second-half of play to hold off any thoughts of a Palm Beach Atlantic comeback. The Sailfish could never quite get it going on Saturday afternoon at the Rubin Arena as they connected on just one three-pointer for the day as EC earned a defensive win by the score of 57-43.

Post player Krystal Charles led all players on the day with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-9 field goal shooting and 3-of-4 at the free-throw line. She was joined from the perimeter by a solid showing from Kati Rausberg who knocked down 4-of-7 shots from beyond the arc to claim 14 points.

PBA placed three players of their own in double-figures led by `14 points each from Selethia Jackson and Ashley Dolberry however the Fish would struggle to find their shot as a team as they concluded the game with only a 27.8 percent (15-54) shooting mark.

Eckerd (9-4) jumped in front with a 13-0 run to start the game as Charles and Taylor Young would attack from the opening tip and provide the visitors from St. Petersburg with a healthy lead.

A jumper from PBA’s Jackson with 11:02 remaining in the opening half would finally squelch the dry spell as the Fish trailed 13-2 as the two teams neared the middle stage of the first-half.

The Tritons lead would grow to as many as 17 points in the opening half before a Lynsey Poole layup on the Sailfish (6-12) last possession of the half cut things to 30-15 entering the break.

Although PBA would fight their way back to a single-digit deficit with a strong start to the second-half it wouldn’t be enough as the Tritons would never trail and cruise to the 14-point win.

Palm Beach Atlantic will return to action on Tuesday, January 17th when they host cross-town rival Northwood University at 6 pm in the Rubin Arena.
