WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University softball team had a perfect 4-0 weekend with double-header sweeps over Flagler College and Mercyhurst College over the past weekend. Senior pitcher Ashley Jones was 3-0 with no earned runs allowed over the weekend including a second career no-hitter in the Friday night opener against Flagler College. For her efforts, she has been named the Sailfish Student-Athlete for the second time this Spring.

Jones would start game two against Flagler as well, tossing five more no-hit innings before handing a 3-0 lead over to the PBA bullpen. She would be called upon to re-enter after the Saints pushed across three runs to tie the game as Jones tallied the final 1.1 innings to earn the victory as PBA prevailed 4-3 in extra innings.

On Saturday, Jones tossed another complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts and one walk against Mercyhurst College in a 6-0 PBA victory.

For the weekend, Jones managed 20.1 innings pitched, 0 runs allowed, 34 strikeouts, 3 walks, and only 3 total hits allowed. Jones is now 6-3 on the season with a 0.56 earned-run average with 90 strikeouts in 62.2 innings pitched.

Ashley is an elementary education major and is the daughter of Skip and Karen Jones.
