FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.- Once again matched up against Southern Wesleyan University with the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Region championship on the line, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer team pulled through with a solid 2-0 win. The victory clinches PBA a spot in the upcoming NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida in early December.

It wouldn’t take long for the Fish to get on the scoreboard on Saturday afternoon as senior A.J. Mack crossed a ball to fellow senior Chance Sumner who then blasted the ball home past the keeper for the 1-0 lead.

PBA would see two more chances inside the six yard line in the next ten minutes just miss as both shots sailed over the cross bar.

The teams entered halftime with a 1-0 score despite some chances on both sides coming up just empty.

The Sailfish (10-5-2) got an insurance goal in the last ten minutes of the contest when senior Cheyne Roberts cashed in on a penalty kick for the 2-0 lead. Kyle Crouse had a breakaway opportunity before being taken down from beyond which issued the penalty kick for the Fish.

Joe Yurchak posted the shutout in goal for PBA with the final individual and team statistics to be posted once they become available.

Roberts earned his second straight NCCAA South Region Player of the Year honor after the championship match while being joined on the NCCAA All-Region team by seniors Johnathon Clark, Yurchak, and Sumner. Crouse, only a junior, also made the listing.

The Sailfish now await their seed for the 10-team NCCAA National Championship tournament set to take place once again at the Austin Tindall Park in Kissimmee, Florida from December 2nd-5th. PBA will be looking for their first-ever NCCAA National Championship in men’s soccer.
