Christy Lee Taylor Played for the PBA Volleyball Team from 1996-1999.

Christy Lee Taylor is the latest Palm Beach Atlantic University athletics alumni to be featured in the Sailfish Spotlight on PBASailfish.com.

A former volleyball standout who graduated with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Marketing, Taylor took some time out of her schedule recently to sit down and answer a few questions.

Interview Conducted by PBA Sports Information Director: Michael Brown.

1. What sport did you play while at PBA and when did you attend?

I played volleyball and attended PBA from 96-00.

2. What position did you play?

I was primarily the setter.

3. Tell us a little bit about what you’ve done career-wise since you graduated from PBA

I worked for a little while for Bud Paxson (founder of PAX TV) and also substitute taught while acting, modeling, and working in film and TV production. I then opened my Motion Picture Production Company, Abba Productions. I also have spent time volunteering with First Care where I led a Teen Pregnancy Group and also am on the board of an organization called STARS (Spirit-Led Teen Artists Reaching for Success).

4. We’ve been told you are working on a film project, what can you tell us about that?

I am working on a film which is based on a best-selling novel I bought the rights to, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I am currently working with Ralph Winter who produced the X-Men films, Fantastic Four films among others. His company is in Los Angeles. We also have Jeremy Leven who wrote the screenplay for the film The Notebook attached to write the screenplay for our film. It is a very long process, but things are looking good! I am so honored and blessed that the Lord is allowing me to work on this project! Maybe I will have to write a book when this is all over!

5. What did you most take away from your collegiate athletics experience that has helped shape you today?

I am bad about choosing just one thing, but I would say one thing for sure is perseverance. With athletics you really have to have a kind of never give up attitude. In the industry I am now working in things can take a long time. I have been working on this project for 6 years now and it was just over a year ago that Ralph’s company joined me, so thankfully I hadn’t given up!

6. Do you have a family?

Yes, I have a husband, Patrick Taylor who played Basketball for PBA and graduated in 2001. I also have a son, Logan Patrick, who is 3, and twin baby girls, Britain Lee and Brielle Marie who just turned a year old! We also have a dog named Malibu!

7. Hobbies?

I love spending time with my family and friends.  Going out with my girlfriends for dinner and a movie is always nice. I also love to travel, but that isn’t quite as easy at the moment.

8. What is your best memory from your time at Palm Beach Atlantic University?

Well of course meeting my husband in Captain’s Club is one. The other two are probably my semester abroad in London with Dr. and Mrs. Lewter and receiving All-American Honors and going to Nationals for the first time in PBA history my Junior year for volleyball. Unfortunately I didn’t get to play my senior year due to a back injury, but I was so thankful I was able to receive that before I had to retire.
