WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-Hitting the road for their final cross country meet of the season at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship, four PBA runners joined head coach Staci LaForte as they traveled to Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio.
For their efforts, PBA’s top two runners all season long, Carter Williams on the men’s side and Gina Batista on the women’s team, have been named PBA Student-Athletes of the Week.
After a regular season schedule that included running all their practices and races in the state of Florida, typical mid-November temperatures of the Midwest would greet the runners as they encountered some tough conditions on Saturday.
Battling freezing rain and 15-20 MPH winds, the PBA competitors still put forth a solid showing.
Williams finished 59th in a very competitive field with a time of 29:37.67 in the men’s 8K while Batista led PBA’s women represenatives with a time of 24:08.25 in the women’s 5K.
Carter is the son of Price and Bianca Williams while Gina is the daughter of Alan and Deborah Battista.
