Kayla Matthews joined the PBA volleyball coaching staff before the 2023 season.
Matthews played her final collegiate volleyball season for the Sailfish in 2022. During the season, she played in 27 out of 28 matches, appearing in 98 sets. She finished second on the team with 241 kills, averaging 2.46 kills per set with a .192 hitting percentage. Matthews recorded 184 digs, averaging 1.88 digs per set and totaled 12 blocks. She finished fourth on the team with 25 service aces in 2022.
Before coming to PBA, Matthews spent four years at NCAA DI Grand Canyon University. She played in 45 matches her first two seasons before battling injuries her junior and senior years. Matthews led GCU with 2.56 kills per set as a freshman. She earned WAC Player of the Week honors in 2018 after recording 34 kills in wins over Cal St. - Bakersfield and Chicago State.
