Born March 7, 1997... Majoring in business management ... Chose PBA because God had a place for her here... Favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:5... Favorite team is the Denver Broncos... Favorite athlete is Tim Tebow... Daughter of Merrill and Lisa Hoekstra... Has one sister: Abigail.

2018 (Senior)
Sophie had 166 kills and 55 total blocks in her senior season with the Sailfish and came on strong late, posting five double-digit kill matches in the last eight matches of the season … had 12 kills in a five-set road win over No. 24 Barry on Oct. 23 … had 13 kills and just two errors in a four-set win over Florida Southern at home on Nov. 3 … had a season-high 16 kills in a win over Spring Hill on Nov. 15 in the NCAA South Region Tournament.

2017 (Junior)
Played in 26 matches on the season for the Sailfish … finished the season with 101 kills, picking up 1.42 kills per set … also tallied 26 assists and 28 digs on the year … had 44 total blocks in her junior season … picked up a season-high 10 kills in a sweep of Florida Tech on Sept. 26 … had seven kills in seven attacks against Montevallo on Sept. 8 for a perfect hitting percentage … finished her season hitting at a .208 clip.

2016 (Sophomore)
Played in 17 matches, making 15 starts before a knee injury ended her season…competed in 55 sets on the year after transferring from Bryant University…valuable right side attacker that collected 95 kills (1.73/set) before the injury…hit .193 for the season…reached double digits in kills three times, with season-high 11 coming twice, vs. Lynn (9/17) and Alabama-Huntsville (10/14)…tallied 25 total blocks with season best four against Washburn (9/10) and Embry-Riddle (9/30)…collected 34 digs on the year with season-high of nine in last full match of the season, against Alabama-Huntsville (10/14).

Bryant University
NEC Rookie of the Year... All-NEC First Team... NEC Player of the Week... Two-time NEC Rookie of the Week... ECAC Rookie of the Week... Appeared in 32 matches, earning 26 starts while playing in 117 of 124 sets as a rookie... Led the team with 342 kills on the year, good for third-most in the league... Boasted the eighth-highest hitting percentage in the conference at .248, good for tops among all NEC rookies... Averaged 2.92 kills per set (6th in NEC)... Also topped the team charts in points (379) and points per set (3.24), both good for top-10 in the league... Finished third on the squad with 74 blocks... Added 102 digs and 28 assists while posting a .916 reception percentage... Hit double-digit kill totals in 19 contests, including in nine of the final 12 matches... Posted a season-high 18 kills three times.

HIGH SCHOOL
Hoekstra was a three-year varsity letterwinner and starter for Severna Park High School... Led the Falcons to a Maryland Class 4A State Championship as a senior in 2014, also winning county and regional titles... Team was the state runner up and regional champ in 2013... 2015Washington Post All-Metro First Team selection... 2014 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year nominee... Capital Gazette Player of the Year as a senior... Baltimore Sun All-Metro Player of the Year...
