Melvin Robinson

  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Coach Robinson is in his first year with the PBA Coaching Staff. The 6’8 former collegiate center will work primarily with the Sailfish big men. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Robinson began his playing career at D1 Frank Phillips Community College for Chris Hackett, a former Sunshine State Conference Assistant Coach. Robinson went on to play his final two years at St. Thomas University in Fort Lauderdale, FL for Coach Pat Gayle, a good friend of PBA’s Coach Dave Balza. In his senior season, Robinson shot 53% from the field and averaged 6.0 rebounds per game.

Robinson was a member of the Dean’s list at St. Thomas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Administration. Robinson points to Galatians Chapter 5 as the inspiration for his coaching philosophy.

Coach Balza had this to say about his first year assistant: “Melvin has a real heart for service. Christ and basketball have been big parts of his life, and he wants to share his experience with the young men on our team. He will be a tremendous help in molding the large group of new young big men in our program.”
