Hayley Galac begins her second season with the Sailfish in 2013-14, working as an assistant coach for the Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball program. Like Eddie Shannon, she was hired by the previous coach and retained this past summer by Coach Balza.
A native of Detroit, Michigan and a recent graduate of Marquette University, Galac is no stranger to collegiate basketball. She served as a team manager during her time at Marquette under head coach Buzz Williams for two seasons. She also earned experience in coaching with New Berlin West High School in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Her girls’ freshmen team finished 37-7 over the course of her two seasons.
Galac has also been active in running camps since 2004 alongside her father, Robert, who has been a boy's varsity high school coach for many years.
Coach Galac will assist Coach Balza in working with the post players. Her emphasis will be on rebounding, a staple of Coach Balza’s previous teams. In addition to her on-court responsibilities, Coach Galac oversees the team’s Academic Enhancement program, coordinates team travel and assists in recruiting, scouting and camps as well as organizing the team’s video tape exchange program.
“I have been very impressed with Coach Galac’s knowledge of the game,” stated Coach Balza. “Our student-athletes respect Coach Galac for that, but even more so for her selfless concern for their well-being as students and for their growth on and off the court. She plays a vital role in the success we expect to have here at PBA.”
