Softball Takes Game One Against Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team secured a decisive 7-2 victory over Rollins College on Friday night at MLK Park. The 'Fish delivered a strong offensive performance with 15 hits, including two home runs, to clinch the win.

Palm Beach Atlantic opened the scoring in the second inning as Kaycee McClellan doubled to left center and was driven home by a single from Miranda Rollins, who achieved a season-high total of three RBIs during the game. The inning concluded with the Sailfish leading 1-0.

In the third inning, Rylee Little singled and later scored on a single up the middle by Kierea Smits, extending the lead to 2-0.

A pivotal seventh inning saw the 'Fish increase their lead significantly. Rhiannon Sibbett led off with a single, and Little followed with a two-run homer. Larken Maseda, who reached the milestone of 15 runs scored this season, hit a solo home run to add another run. Later in the inning, Rollins hit a single to center field, driving in two more runs. By the end of the inning, the Sailfish were ahead 7-0.

The Tars managed to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh through a combination of hits, but Palm Beach Atlantic secured the victory with a final score of 7-2.

Little delivered a strong performance with three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs while also scoring twice. Maseda contributed to the offense by hitting a home run and recording one RBI. Rollins effectively drove in three runs with two hits. Lauren Allen excelled on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out two batters. Little pitched 3.2  innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits while issuing three walks and striking out one. 

PBA plays its final two games on the season on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Tars, starting at 12 p.m.
