Softball Wins Fourth Straight Conference Series

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team faced off against Embry-Riddle in a doubleheader at Simpson Field, splitting the games with a 4-1 victory in the first and a tough 11-2 loss in the second.

After taking the series against the Eagles, PBA has now won four conference series in a row. For senior day, PBA honored seniors Larken Maseda, Bianca Green, Rhiannon Sibbett, Madison Schlichte and Ashlyn Storms.

PBA finishes its season next weekend at Rollins. The first game in Winter Park takes place on Friday at 6 p.m.

Game One - PBA: 4 - ERAU: 1

In the first game, the Sailfish collected fourteen hits and Rylee Little pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on seven hits. PBA took an early lead in the first inning when Kaitlyn Campbell singled to shallow left field and later scored on Marli Szierer's RBI single, making it 1-0. The Sailfish extended their lead in the second inning as Rhiannon Sibbett singled and scored on Campbell's RBI single, followed by Addley Dean's RBI single that allowed Miranda Rollins to score, increasing the lead to 3-0.

The Eagles responded in the fifth inning with a home run, reducing the deficit to 3-1. However, the Sailfish maintained their composure and did not allow further runs. In the sixth inning, PBA capitalized on an error, with Savanna Lee scoring an unearned run on Rylee Little's RBI single, pushing the lead to 4-1. The Sailfish successfully held ERAU scoreless in the final innings, clinching the series with the 4-1 win.

Campbell led the Sailfish with three hits and two stolen bases, contributing a run and an RBI. Little recorded two hits and drove in a run while pitching a complete game, allowing one earned run and striking out two. Sibbett added two hits and scored a run, while Szierer contributed with a hit and an RBI.

Game Two - ERAU: 11 - PBA: 2

In the second game, the Sailfish opened with Dianna Montidoro singling in the infield, and she later scored when Marli Szierer was caught stealing at second, giving PBA an early lead of 1-0. However, the Eagles responded dramatically in the second inning with a six-run performance on six hits, two walks, and an error, moving ahead 6-1 by the end of the inning.

The Sailfish cut into the lead in the third inning when Holly Frankl, who had singled and stolen second, scored on a throwing error following a groundout by Montidoro, reducing the deficit to 6-2. ERAU added a run in the fifth inning on four hits, extending its lead to 7-2 going into the sixth inning.

In the sixth, ERAU capitalized on fielding errors, scoring two unearned runs, widening the gap to 9-2. The Eagles continued their offensive onslaught in the seventh inning, scoring two more runs on two hits and an error, ultimately closing the game at 11-2 to avoid the sweep.

Frankl posted two hits and scored a run, contributing to her team's efforts. Szierer recorded one hit, and Montidoro added one hit and crossed the plate once. Ashlyn Storms pitched 1.2 innings, striking out one batter, while Lauren Allen entered in relief, pitching 4.1 innings and surrendering 12 hits and five runs, three of which were earned.
