Softball Takes Series Opener Over Bucs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team secured a 4–2 victory over Barry at Simpson Field. The Sailfish's offense was fueled by a 10-hit performance, and its pitching staff struck out seven, allowing only five hits through seven innings.
 
PBA hosted the Bucs in a competitive matchup. The opposing team took an early lead after three hits and two stolen bases in the first inning leading to two runs, setting the score at 2–0.
 
The Sailfish responded in the fourth inning. Kaitlyn Campbell singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Addley Dean. Marli Szierer then singled, driving in Campbell. Savanna Lee, who pinch ran for Szierer, scored on a single by Larken Maseda, evening the score at 2–2 at the end of the fourth inning.
 
In the fifth inning, the Sailfish took the lead. Rhiannon Sibbett singled and later scored on a single by Dean, which also allowed Campbell to score after she walked and stole second base. This gave the 'Fish a 4–2 lead by the end of the fifth inning.
 
The remaining innings saw no further scoring with Rylee Little securing the victory in the circle with a final score of 4–2.
 
Lauren Allen started in the circle, pitching four innings, conceding five hits and two earned runs, while also recording three strikeouts and issuing one walk. Little pitched three innings in relief, allowing no hits and striking out four batters. Campbell scored twice and added a hit, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Dean collected two RBIs, registering a season-high in runs batted in and playing a key role in driving in runs. Maseda recorded two hits and one RBI, while also successfully stealing a base.
 
PBA finishes its series with the Bucs on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
