Sailfish Maintain Momentum with Win Against Lander

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic (3-2) clinched a thrilling 13-10 win over Lander University (4-1) at Marietta High School on Sunday. With 20 shots on goal and a rock-solid defensive performance featuring 12 saves, PBA showcased their offensive firepower with a season-high 13 goals.

Leading the charge was Braylon Baker with three goals and a season-high four assists, including a game-winner. Baker has now netted at least three goals in back-to-back games. Noah Zimmerman put up a career-high four goals on eight shots. Jack Bryant was a wall in goal, stopping 12 shots and allowing 10. Cooper Porter chipped in with a power-play goal, hitting the mark on two of his three shots.

The 'Fish came out strong in the first quarter, with Zimmerman opening the scoring off a Baker assist at 14:30. Lucas Sharrer followed up, pushing the lead to 2-0. Lander's Luke Aspnes cut it to 2-1, but PBA struck back with Bryce Downs' first goal of the season, again assisted by Baker. Lander regrouped post-timeout, netting three straight to grab a 4-3 lead by quarter's end.

Aspnes added another for Lander to start the second quarter, but PBA answered quickly with Gabe Eckhart scoring, thanks to Baker's assist. The 'Fish capitalized on a man-up opportunity with Porter, again from Baker, leveling things up. Eli Baffone and Giovanni Lubrano notched their first goals of the season, matching Lander's intensity. Baker, assisted by Downs, scored to keep it tied. Despite a late Lander goal, the half ended with a tight 9-8 Lander lead.

Zimmerman sparked the third quarter for the Sailfish, scoring at 8:32 with help from Dominic Barnshaw. Another quick strike from Zimmerman, set up by Austin Nelson, pushed PBA ahead. Baker kept the offense rolling with another goal at 5:40. Lander's Carson Skinner cut the lead, but Bryant's crucial saves, including one against Ryder Goodwin, preserved an 11-10 lead into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw Zimmerman extend the lead with a Lubrano-assisted goal at 12:55. PBA's defense held firm, with Bryant making several key stops, including a critical one against Skinner. Baker added a late insurance goal, sealing the deal. Lander's last efforts were thwarted by Bryant's last-second save, wrapping up a 13-10 victory. The 'Fish maintained their streak of at least 32 ground balls in three consecutive games.

The 'Fish will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Rollins in a non-conference matchup at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
