WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis faced a tough challenge against Lynn on Monday at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center, resulting in a 7-0 defeat. Lynn captured the doubles point and swept all six singles matches.
The doubles competition saw Lynn assert control with wins on all three courts. The action began with Lia Mosimann and Meadow Garcia from Lynn overpowering PBA's
Virginia Borja and
Anarella Brito 6-0 at the No. 2 doubles position. Following suit, Carla Galmiche and Kristen Younes took a 6-2 victory over
Alina Hoermann and
Valeria Lopez at No. 1 doubles. The sweep was capped at No. 3 doubles, where Salma Djoubri and Lea Cakarevic defeated
Elisa Buhagiar and
Mia Garber 6-2.
In singles play, Lynn maintained their momentum. Kristen Younes led the way for Lynn with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Borja at No. 2 singles. On court one, Salma Djoubri added to the score with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Hoermann. At No. 6 singles, Mosimann secured a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Brito.
Carla Galmiche contributed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Buhagiar at No. 4 singles, while Garcia claimed a 6-4, 6-3 result against Garber at No. 3 singles. The day's competition concluded on court five, where Cakarevic edged out Lopez in a close battle, 5-7, 6-2, 10-6, completing the match.
The Sailfish return to the courts on Wednesday at 11 a.m. when they host St. Thomas (Fla.).Â
