Annika Limpert's Late Goal Secures Win for Sailfish

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — The Sailfish (1-0) emerged victorious over Young Harris (1-1) with a thrilling 10-9 victory on Sunday. Palm Beach Atlantic clinched the win with a last-second goal in the final quarter, overcoming a strong push from Young Harris earlier in the game.

The match kicked off with Georgia Karns in goal for the 'Fish, showcasing her defensive prowess right from the start with multiple saves, including a crucial stop against Riley Park just 15 seconds in. Despite some early turnovers, Palm Beach Atlantic capitalized when Olivia Larges netted the first goal, assisted by Annika Limpert, at the 7:33 mark. Young Harris leveled the score with a free position goal by Riley Park at 4:18. The first quarter wrapped up in a 1-1 tie, setting the stage for a nail-biter.

Keira Limpert opened the second quarter for the Sailfish with a goal at 14:21, assisted by Kendall Borbi. After a brief lead by Young Harris, PBA answered back with a goal from Skylar Splinter at 9:33, assisted by Taylor Fiorini, closing the gap. Olivia Larges tied it up again at 6:46, followed by Annika Limpert's goal at 5:10, bringing the game back to level terms after Young Harris had pulled ahead. Peyton Sutton's goal at 0:34 ended the quarter in a 6-6 deadlock.

The third quarter saw Palm Beach Atlantic facing challenges, starting with a draw control only to concede a goal to Young Harris's Mary Troyer at 13:22. Larges quickly responded for the 'Fish, scoring at 12:11 to even things up again. She struck once more at 9:07, giving PBA a brief edge.

Despite their efforts, the Sailfish couldn't hold onto the lead as Young Harris tied it up at 7:45 with a free position goal by Riley Park and then surged ahead with a player-up goal from Sydney Craig at 3:50. Palm Beach Atlantic found themselves trailing 9-8 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter began with a crucial draw control by Skylar Splinter for the 'Fish, setting the tone for a determined push. Even after an early yellow card for Arianna Tribble, Palm Beach Atlantic maintained pressure. Taryn Thompson's caused turnover and ground ball pickup highlighted their defensive grit.

As the quarter wore on, PBA seized their moment with Keira Limpert scoring at 4:04 to tie it up. Georgia Karns stood tall with a critical save on a free position shot, keeping the score level at 9-9.

In the dying moments of the game, Annika Limpert delivered the game-winner with just two seconds remaining, her second goal of the season. Sealing a 10-9 victory over Young Harris.

Annika Limpert shone with two goals, including the clutch game-winner, plus an assist. Olivia Larges added four goals, converting five of her eight shots on target. Keira Limpert made her mark with two goals on three shots on target. Goalkeeper Georgia Karns was pivotal, recording nine saves on 31 shots faced, securing the hard-fought win for the Sailfish.
