Women's Basketball Mounts Furious Comeback for Win, 76-71

WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soared to a thrilling 76-71 victory over Rollins College, riding a wave of momentum with a commanding 28-point fourth quarter. PBA capitalized on Rollins' mishaps, turning turnovers into 23 crucial points.

Anabel Ellison was on fire, racking up 23 points with six 3-pointers, while snagging nine rebounds and three steals. Hadley matched her scoring with 23 points, sinking eight free throws and dishing out four assists. Blanche Toualeu added 11 points, four rebounds, and a block, while Anaya Smith chipped in nine points, six rebounds, and three steals.

The 'Fish made their presence felt early with a strong defensive showing, highlighted by Ellison's two steals. Despite a slow start in shooting, Ellison's trio of 3-pointers helped close the gap from Rollins' fast breaks, ending the first quarter down 17-14. In the second quarter, Smith's effort in the paint briefly put PBA ahead 21-20 at 7:44, but Rollins countered with a scoring run, including a layup and free throw from Victoria Escribano, to pull ahead 42-31 at halftime.

PBA mounted a spirited comeback in the third quarter however the Tars held onto their lead. Smith's steal set up a fast-break layup by Hadley, sparking the Sailfish offense. Despite Rollins holding onto their lead, timely free throws and a clutch 3-pointer from Ellison kept the 'Fish in the hunt, trailing 61-48 as the quarter closed.

The final quarter saw the Sailfish turn the tide with a huge comeback. Smith's crucial 3-pointer at 1:43 tied the game at 71. Toualeu then pushed PBA ahead with a layup and a free throw at 1:04, giving the 'Fish a three-point cushion. Ellison iced the game with two free throws in the final moments, sealing the 76-71 triumph. The 'Fish dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Rollins 28-10 to clinch the win.

With the win, the Sailfish clinched a spot in the SSC Tournament under the guidance of first-year head coach Grahm Smith. Seeding is still to be determined. The Sailfish return to the floor on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. when they host the Embry-Riddle Eagles inside the Rubin Arena.
