Palm Beach Atlantic Pushes No. 18 Flagler In Close Contest

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The Sailfish faced a tough matchup against No. 18 Flagler on Tuesday night at Flagler Lacrosse Field, ultimately falling 10-7. PBA's offense hit a snag in the second and third quarters, managing just a single goal in each.

Braylon Baker led the charge with two goals and two assists, making every shot count. Jack Bryant was solid between the pipes, recording 12 saves against a season-high 38 shots. Cooper Porter chipped in with a goal and an assist, marking his first goal of the season, while Jackson Trevaskiss added a goal and two assists.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with Cooper Porter equalizing the score at 1-1 after an early Flagler goal. The 'Fish capitalized on a man-up opportunity with Lucas Sharrer finding the net off a Baker assist, tying it up again at 2-2. Baker then struck with a goal assisted by Trevaskiss, leveling the score at 3-3, before Flagler edged ahead with two late goals to close the quarter at 5-3.

Flagler struck quickly in the second quarter, but the Sailfish responded with Bryce Downs scoring off a Trevaskiss assist. Despite Bryant's crucial saves, including a stop against Trace McDonald, PBA couldn't find the net again, ending the quarter trailing 6-4.

The third quarter saw Flagler maintaining pressure, yet Bryant stood tall with key saves. However, a goal from Griffin Moore widened the gap. PBA had chances, but turnovers stymied their momentum. Another goal from Moore left the 'Fish facing an 8-4 deficit by the quarter's end.

In the fourth quarter, Baker sparked a rally with a goal at 9:00, and Austin Nelson won the faceoff to keep the pressure on, though his shot sailed wide. Trevaskiss, with help from Porter, cut the lead further. Despite a late goal from Noah Zimmerman, assisted by Baker, Flagler's Dempsey Gibbs sealed the deal with a score just 27 seconds from time. The Sailfish's spirited comeback fell short, closing the game at 10-7 in favor of Flagler.
