THOMASVILLE, Ga.- Palm Beach Atlantic University (1-0-0) secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Thomas University on Friday afternoon at the TU Soccer Complex, with the visiting team registering a shutout and eight shots on goal.
Palm Beach Atlantic defeated Thomas 3-0 at the TU Complex on Friday. The Sailfish opened the scoring in the first half and secured the win with two additional goals in the second half. The visiting team dominated offensively, recording 15 shots with 8 on goal, while the defense held Thomas to just 4 shots on target, earning a shutout.
The first half saw Palm Beach Atlantic take the lead early with
Maddie Hulme's goal in the 15th minute, assisted by
Anna Foreman. The visitors maintained pressure throughout, with multiple attempts on goal, including shots by
Ariana Jones and
Faith Hardy that were saved by Thomas' goalkeeper, Kennedi Warren-Young. Despite several offside calls against the 'Fish, they held a 1-0 advantage at the end of the half, with
Brooke Delzatto making key saves to deny Thomas' chances.
The second half began with the 'Fish extending their lead with a goal by
Ariana Jones in the 52nd minute. Despite a wide shot attempt by
Jordan Lavery shortly after, the visitors maintained pressure, and Hulme capitalized in the 65th minute with a goal, assisted by
Kendall Popp, to make it 3-0. Delzatto was instrumental in maintaining the clean sheet with key saves against Thomas, ensuring the 'Fish's decisive victory at the end of regulation, which was cut short due to a heat advisory at the 70th minute.
