SAINT LEO, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic University women's soccer team and the Saint Leo Lions battled to a scoreless draw, with both teams' goalkeepers earning clean sheets and combining for 13 saves at University Turf Stadium.
In the first half, the Sailfish applied consistent pressure on the offensive front, recording seven shots, including efforts by
Sabrina Blount and
Abigail Longstaff, but were unable to convert any into goals. The 'Fish earned six corner kicks, demonstrating their territorial advantage. Saint Leo, despite four shots and three corners, also did not find the back of the net. Both defenses held firm, leading to a scoreless tie at the end of the half.
In the scoreless second half between Palm Beach Atlantic and Saint Leo, the Sailfish applied offensive pressure with numerous attempts on goal, including eight shots on target. Madeleine Hulme and
Ariana Jones each contributed multiple shots, but were unable to find the net due to strong goalkeeping by Soley Larusdottir of Saint Leo, who recorded several key saves. On the defensive end,
Keira Dawley of the 'Fish matched her counterpart's performance, making critical stops against Saint Leo's attempts, including a sequence of shots by Ainsley Meyer and Skye Dias. The match remained tightly contested as neither team could break the deadlock.
The Sailfish holds a record of 1-3-2 (0-0-1) overall following the match. PBA has a chance to earn their first conference win of the season when they head to Barry to take on the Buccaneers in Miami Shores on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
