Sailfish Bit by Sand Sharks

Bluffton, S.C.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team fell to the USC-Beaufort Sand Sharks by a score of 2-1. Freshman Abigail Longstaff tallied her first career goal in the loss.

The Sailfish gave up the first goal of the game inside the first five minutes of the game. Jasiah Pack dribbled around Madison Kovar and beat Brooke Delzatto to give the Sand Sharks the early lead.

With a little less than 16 minutes to play in the first half, Abigail Longstaff played a pretty one-two pass with Maddie Hulme and fired home a long shot over the keeper from well outside the 18-yard box. The Sailfish found their equalizer.

In the second half, the Sand Sharks stepped in front once again. After advantage was played on a Sailfish foul, USCB took advantage by continuing their counter attack and finding a wide-open Sophia Willis for the go-ahead goal.

Late in the game Sabrina Blount committed a foul in the box that appeared to be shoulder-to-shoulder, however the referee awarded a penalty to USCB. Brooke Delzatto stepped up to make the save and keep it a one-goal game. The Sailfish were unable to find the equalizer and ultimately fell 2-1.

The Sailfish return home Wednesday evening to take on the Florida Tech Panthers at 6 p.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
