WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic University has announced the hiring of Joshua Petree as the new head coach of the Sailfish esports program. Petree brings a unique blend of technical expertise and competitive gaming experience to the role, making him well-positioned to lead the program into its next phase of growth.

"We are excited to welcome Joshua Petree as the next leader of our esports program," Director of Athletics Courtney Lovely Evans said, "He is not only a gifted competitor, but someone whose values align with our Christ-first mission. His vision for student development makes him a strong fit for our community. As esports continues to grow at PBA, we're confident Joshua will help us build a program that reflects excellence, integrity, and the heart of the university."

A graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in information technology, Petree comes to PBA with a background in IT support and a proven track record in esports leadership. While at FSU, he was a standout competitor on the university's Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team, eventually stepping up as a co-leader during his final season. Known for his strategic mindset and high-level play, Petree was recognized as one of the strongest players in the Tallahassee region.

"I'm very excited for this opportunity that God has given me to head PBA's esports program," Petree said. "Gaming has had a significant place in my life, and I look to engage in and share that passion with those at PBA while demonstrating Christ's love for all people. I'm looking forward to connecting with everyone both on and off campus about this awesome new venture that the school is providing. Let's get started!"

Petree most recently served as an IT Technician with the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County, where he provided technical support and training for over 200 staff members. Prior to that, he worked at The King's Academy, supporting a wide range of IT systems and helping to integrate technology into academic events and instruction.

In his new role, Petree will oversee recruitment, player development, and day-to-day operations of PBA's esports team.
