BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team traveled to Lynn University for their Sunshine State Conference opener this evening. PBA was seen battling against No. 4 Lynn and putting forth their best effort but fell just short 17-10.
In the first quarter, the Sailfish were first to score with a goal from
Hunter Levinson and
Taryn Thompson picking up the assist. The Fighting Knights quickly retaliated with a trio of goals to take a 3-1 lead. In the eighth minute of play,
Annika Limpert found
Olivia Larges to cut the deficit to one. Lynn responded quickly with a pair of goals to close the first quarter, 5-2.
PBA was first to score to open the second quarter. Larges assisted Levinson for her second goal of the day and cutting the deficit to two. Lynn notched another pair of goals, but PBA was able to respond with a goal of their own from
Bella Marchiano, assisted by
Rachel Delate. The Fighting Knights went on an offensive stretch where they scored four goals to close the first half, leaving PBA to trail 11-4.
In the third quarter, Delate struck for her first goal of the match in the third minute of play. Lynn was seen outshooting the Sailfish nine to four and notching a total of five goals in the quarter. PBA was seen trailing the Fighting Knights 16-5 heading into the final quarter of play.
The Sailfish were relentlessly and were not backing down, seeing
Arianna Tribble opening the third quarter with her first goal of the match. Thompson followed, off the assist from
Jalona Mundo, along with
Allie Truby netting a goal. With PBA cutting the deficit to 17-8, Delate took advantage of a man-up situation and a free position attempt to rally back to 17-9. Limpert netted the final goal for the Sailfish but was ultimately not enough as PBA dropped the match 17-10.
Palm Beach Atlantic will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 in Lakeland, Fla. against Florida Southern. The SSC match is set for 1:00 p.m.
