LAKELAND, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team hit the road for a weekend match-up against SSC foe, Florida Southern College. PBA was seen attacking early but were unable to jump ahead and fell short 21-9.
In the first three minutes of play, the Sailfish made a statement by netting the first goal against the No. 3 Mocs from the stick of
Annika Limpert. FSC responded quickly by netting a pair of goals and stealing the lead.
Taryn Thompson swooped in and netted the equalizer, but not before a persistent Mocs offensive propelled them ahead 4-2.
Hunter Levinson worked with
Rachel Delate to net the third goal of the match, but the Mocs closed out the quarter on an offensive run, seeing PBA trail 7-3 heading into to the second quarter.
The Mocs were hot out of the gate, netting two goals in less than three minutes. The Mocs were fired up and engaged, but not until Delate took advantage of a man-up situation to cut the deficit to five. In the ninth minute, Delate worked to find
Bella Marchiano on the outside of the crease to see her net goal number five for PBA. Tribble and Levinson worked together to net the final goal of the first half and only trail 11-6 at the half.
The Mocs went on an offensive rally, leaving PBA to remain scoreless through the third quarter. FSC outshot the Sailfish 11-0, seeing PBA goalkeeper
Courtney Rausch with two saves in the match.
Looking to spark the momentum, Limpert nets her second goal of the afternoon and cut the deficit to 19-7. After a small run from USF, the Sailfish saw Levinson with her second goal off the assist from Thompson. The Sailfish net the final goal of the afternoon from
Bella Marchiano off the assist from Delate but was ultimately not enough as the Sailfish fell to the Mocs, 21-9.
Palm Beach Atlantic will return home to the PBA Lacrosse Field on Wednesday, April 2 at 5:00 p.m. (EST) against SSC foe, Florida Tech.
