WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team took the 4-3 win on the road over the Eckerd Tritons.
The Sailfish swept the doubles session to take the doubles point. Simona Karlsson Hantzis and Cecilia Peroni knocked off their opponent 6-3. In the second position, Virginia Borja and Alina Hoermann took down their foe by a score of 6-4. In the third position, Alessia Passerini and Elsa Brenner completed the sweep with a 6-4 win.
Moving onto the singles matches, Alina Hoermann fell in the first position, 2-6, 0-6. Virginia Borja dropped the second position matchup 4-6, 2-6, to put the Tritons on top 2-1. However, Elsa Brenner tied it right back up with 6-2, 6-4 win. Simona Hantzis dropped her third position matchup 5-7, 7-6(7-4), 4-6 to give the Tritons the lead. Cecilia Peroni took the fifth position 6-3, 6-2 and the match fell to the hands of Alessia Passerini. Passerini took the matchup 6-4, 6-3 to give the Sailfish the win.
The Sailfish women's tennis team returns to action next Saturday when they head to Florida Southern to take on the Mocs at Noon.
