Women's Lacrosse Dominates Cavaliers, Seeing Multiple Players with Career Highs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team hosted the Cavaliers of the University of Virginia at Wise for their second match of their Spring Break campaign. The Sailfish dominated the Cavaliers for a 21-12 victory, seeing numerous players set new career highs.

Among the players that set new career highs, Rachel Delate netted seven goals for a single season career high as a Sailfish. Delate was also seen marking 13 points which is a new collegiate single game high for her. Also recording new single season goal highs are Annika Limpert (4), Olivia Larges (4), and Bella Marchiano (3). Limpert was also seen recording a new single game points high (5) while Arianna Tribble recorded a new single game draw control high (8).

The Sailfish started out strong on offensive with Larges netting the first goal off the assist from Delate. Delate was seen passing the ball from the top of the crease into Larges who was in the middle, giving PBA a 1-0 lead. Megan Jackson worked quickly to pass the ball to Marchiano, seeing Marchiano send the ball into the top left of the cage for a 2-0 lead. The Cavaliers quickly worked back from the deficit to take a 3-2 lead over the Sailfish, until Delate netted the equalizer followed by Larges off the assist from Limpert to recapture the lead 4-3.  The Cavaliers managed to even the playing field once again, but the 'Fish saw Delate pass to Limpert from the top of the crease for a man-up goal. The Sailfish ended the first quarter with the 5-4 advantage over the Cavaliers.
Wasting no time, Marchiano and Delate netted back-to-back goals at the start of the second quarter to elevate PBA's lead to 7-4. The Cavaliers cut the deficit to two, but not before Kristina Fardales passed the ball from behind the cage to Larges for the 9-6 advantage. Levinson took advantage of a man-up situation, seeing Fardales pass from behind the cage once again for the 10-6 lead going into the half.

Limpert, Delate, and Larges scored a trio of goals to open the third quarter to raise PBA above the Cavaliers, 13-6. Jackson followed by passing the ball to Delate and setting a screen for Delate to net the 'Fish fourteenth goal of the match. The Cavaliers were relentlessly on offense and were able to net three more goals in the third quarter, but not before Marchiano took advantage of a man-up situation to see PBA leading 15-10 going into the final quarter of play.

The Cavaliers were hot out of the gates to open the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to four. Strong defensive efforts saw PBA playing on the offensive third of the field for the remaining of the quarter. Delate scored two consecutive goals followed by Limpert taking advantage of a man-up situation to see the Sailfish with an 18-11 lead. Delate worked the ball up field and passed across the crease to Levinson for the nineteenth goal of the match, followed by Delate netting her seventh goal of the afternoon to see PBA lead 19-11. The Cavaliers struck one final time, but Limpert netted the final goal of the match after using a spin move against her defender to secure the 21-12 victory.

Palm Beach Atlantic will close their Spring Break campaign with their final home match of the week and Senior Day activities. The Sailfish will host McKendree on Friday, March 14 inside the PBA Lacrosse field with match time set for 1:00 p.m. (EST).
