WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team never trailed in their road win against Eckerd and took the game 65-57. Kash Ayuso dropped 28 points in the matchup and led the Sailfish to a big conference win.
The Sailfish started off hot with a 7-0 run to begin the game in the first 3:16. The Tritons fought back after the media timeout and cut the Sailfish lead down to three heading into the second quarter.
However, the Sailfish really took off in the second quarter against the team in fourth place in the SSC. PBA started off the frame with an 8-0 run to stretch the lead to 22-11. Six of the eight points came from the charity stripe. Buckets from Kash Ayuso and Darria Whitley gave the Sailfish their largest lead of the game at 37-24 heading into the halftime break.
The third quarter was a bit of a different story for the Sailfish. Kash Ayuso fell into foul trouble and the Tritons stormed back to tie it all the way at 45-45 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Sailfish, determined not to lose this one, held the Tritons scoreless for the first 5:58 of the final quarter. In that time, PBA scored ten unanswered points to restore their multi-possession lead. The Sailfish iced the game with free throws by Kash Ayuso and Karyzma Pierre and took the 65-57 road win.
