Men's Basketball Falls to No. 3 Sharks

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team traveled south to face No. 3-ranked Nova Southeastern on Wednesday night.

PBA faced a hungry Sharks team who sought revenge for their loss against the Sailfish in West Palm Beach last month. It still stands as NSU's only loss of the 2025 season. The 'Fish looked to repeat history twice within a one-month span; however, NSU got its payback, continuing its 76-game home winning streak. The Sharks came away with a 94-55 win.

Joshua Ward led the Sailfish with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Tyler Burton scored nine points with two 3-pointers. Jamaal Walkers scored nine points off the bench. Jose Roberto Tanchyn grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

The Sailfish had a harder time against NSU's high-pressure defense this time around. PBA totaled 12 turnovers in the first half, matching the number of miscues it had the entire game against the Sharks last month. The 'Fish got some decent looks at the rim but struggled to get their shots to fall. PBA shot jumper 30 percent in the first half, including 1-for-13 from beyond the arc. The hosts caught fire from three to start the game, getting looks in transition off the missed attempts from the Sailfish. NSU led at halftime, 47-20.

PBA improved offensively in the second half, but the deficit against the Sharks was too big to overcome. Walker scored all nine of his points for PBA in the second half, and the 'Fish did a better job running the hosts off the 3-point line, but NSU still cruised to an impressive victory.

NSU held a 29-to-9 advantage in points off turnovers and won the rebounding battle 48-to-33.

PBA looks to bounce back on the road at Eckerd on Saturday. The game in Saint Petersburg is set for 4:00 p.m.
