MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team dropped their matchup with Barry Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon by a score of 69-55. Blanche Toualeu led the way for the Sailfish with 14 points. Anabel Ellison and Breeje Schuler followed closely behind with 10 points respectively.
Barry got off to a hot start, claiming a 7-0 lead inside the first two minutes of the game. However, the Sailfish stormed back and claimed an 8-7 lead after a three-point bucket from Darria Whitley. Whitley had eight points in the game. Both teams traded scores down the stretch in the first quarter and the Sailfish found themselves down two after the first ten minutes.
Blanche Toualeu kicked off the quarter with a layup for the Sailfish to tie things up at 16. Barry got hot from the field and outscored the Sailfish 21-4 for the rest of the quarter and took a 37-20 lead into the halftime break.
Anabel Ellison added a couple of buckets for the Sailfish at the beginning of the third quarter to keep the Sailfish within shouting distance. Unfortunately, the Bucs stayed red hot from the field and pushed the lead out to its biggest of the game at 24 points. The Sailfish made a bit of the run in the fourth period and got the Barry lead down to 16 but couldn't get any closer than that.
The Sailfish get a bit of a break this week before returning to the floor next Saturday at 2 p.m. against Nova Southeastern inside the Rubin Arena.
