Men's Basketball Improves to 7-0 with Convincing Win

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team (7-0, 2-0 Sunshine State) secured a decisive 100-65 victory over Lynn (4-2, 1-1 Sunshine State) on Wednesday night at Rubin Arena. The 'Fish dominated in the paint with 66 points and recorded 30 assists, showcasing a strong team performance.

Alvin Tumblin Jr. scored a season-high 21 points, converting 10-of-12 field goal attempts and grabbing six rebounds. Preston Le Gassick added 17 points, made three 3-pointers, and achieved a season-high of 10 assists in the matchup. Tyler Burton contributed 14 points, hitting three from beyond the arc and collecting six assists. Christian Kirkland posted a double-double with 12 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.

PBA initiated play with a strong offensive performance, quickly establishing momentum with a series of early baskets. Le Gassick led the charge with multiple assists, including a key pass to Burton for an early 3-pointer, setting the tone for the half. The team capitalized on turnovers, turning defensive stops into fast-break opportunities.

Throughout the half, the 'Fish maintained control, outscoring the Fighting Knights significantly in points in the paint and second-chance points. Kirkland and Tumblin contributed with key rebounds and defensive plays, further extending the lead. As the half progressed, the team continued to build on their advantage, closing the first half ahead, 52-28.

Starting the second half with a lead, PBA extended its advantage, leveraging strong scoring inside the paint and effective bench contributions. Kirkland's early layup, assisted by Le Gassick, set the tone for a dominant stretch, as the team capitalized on second-chance opportunities and fast breaks to pull ahead. Tumblin added to the momentum with a series of baskets, including a fast-break layup at 7:45, assisted by Burton.

The half saw the 'Fish outshooting LU, with efficient playmaking resulting in 11 assists. Blake Wilson and Clay Payne, who achieved a career-high of 14 total points, contributed valuable points off the bench, helping to maintain the offensive push. Despite LU's attempts to close the gap the 'Fish's defense and rebounding efforts kept them at bay. The game concluded with the 'Fish leading 100-65, underscoring their control throughout the second half.

The Sailfish defense held the Fighting Knights to just 36 percent from the field and 24 percent from 3-point range. PBA won the rebounding battle 53-44. The Sailfish limited themselves to just nine turnovers in the game.

PBA hits the road for a game against Barry Saturday. The game in Miami Shores, Fla. takes place a 4:00 p.m.
