MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to the #16 ranked Florida Tech Panthers on the road Wednesday night.
The Sailfish kicked off the game on the wrong foot, giving up a goal ten seconds into the contest. The Panthers played a high, long ball right off the kickoff towards the Sailfish backline to set up a press. A poor touch from
Sabrina Blount gave the ball right to the Panther attacker, Savannah Oxley. Oxley played a through ball to Isabelle Bromage who got around
Madison Kovar and put a shot towards
Brooke Delzatto that got past the Sailfish keeper and into the back of the net for the only goal of the game.
Delzatto locked in for the rest of the game, making seven saves on the Panthers next seven shots on goal to keep the Sailfish in the hunt to earn a draw or possibly even the win. PBA created two shots on goal from
Maddie Hulme and
Emily Rinaldi as well as six other shots that did not make it on target. Despite the chances, the Sailfish were unable to crack the Panther keeper.
The Sailfish return to action next Wednesday at 6 p.m. when they head to Embry-Riddle to take on the Eagles.
