WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer goalkeeper Flavio Giannini has been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Giannini earned the honor after recording a clean sheet in No. 3-ranked PBA's 2–0 win against No. 6-ranked Lynn last week. The senior anchored a disciplined Sailfish defense, making two saves across a full 90 minutes to secure his third shutout of the season.

Behind Giannini's leadership and composure in goal, PBA limited Lynn to just a pair of shots on target and earned its seventh conference victory of the year. The win helped the Sailfish establish a firm hold atop the SSC standings as postseason play approaches.

PBA's defense is one of the best in the country, allowing just six goals all season, tied for the third-least in the NCAA.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action this week with a matchup at Nova Southeastern on Wednesday. The match in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. starts at 7:00 p.m.
