WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer game fought to their second draw with the Barry Buccaneers in as many matches on Wednesday evening. The Sailfish have played 180 minutes against Barry this season with every second being goal-less for both sides.
The first half began with the Sailfish and Bucs trading possession but neither team really creating any dangerous chances..
Madison Kovar and
Anna Foreman put two shots on frame in the half but both were routine saves for the Barry keeper. The half ended with both sides frustrated offensively and unable to find the answer to the others defense.Â
The Sailfish controlled much of the possession in the second half and created a few opportunities, including shots by
Abigail Longstaff and
Ariana Jones, but Barry's defense held firm and didn't buckle under the pressure.
Brooke Delzatto also got in on the action and made a few saves in the second half to keep the game all square. Delzatto recorded five saves, maintaining a clean sheet over the 90 minutes. The Sailfish created some chaos late in the match.
As the Buccaneers kept playing the ball to the corner in hopes of securing the draw, the Sailfish got the ball out in a counter attack and earned a foul which saw the Buccaneer defender and head coach receive a yellow card. In a couple of late set pieces, the Bucs had some key saves and a goal line clearance from a defender to keep the match scoreless.
The Sailfish return to the pitch on Saturday when they head to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern at 7 p.m.
