WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team finally got back in the win column on Wednesday evening with an 84-57 win over the Florida Tech Panthers. Anabel Ellison, Kash Ayuso and Karyzma Pierre were the stars of the show leading the way, each reaching over 20 points for the 'Fish.
The first quarter was the start exactly the doctor ordered for Coach Manisha Redus' squad. PBA came out on fire with a 10-0 run over the first 2:31 to force an early Panther timeout. Kash Ayuso led the way for PBA with 12 points of her own in the first quarter to give the Sailfish a 22-9 lead after the first ten minutes of action.
Florida Tech opened the second quarter with two straight buckets to pull within nine but that would be the closest they would get for the remainder of the game. PBA continued to stretch out the lead and thanks to a late 3-point bucket from Katelynn Hagy, the Sailfish owned a twenty-point lead at the halftime break.
Coming out of halftime, the Sailfish continued to build upon their already large lead. Three straight buckets from Ayuso early in the quarter saw the Sailfish lead draw out to 28, the largest of the game at that point. PBA never looked back once and continued to build the lead. The largest lead of the game came in the fourth quarter when a layup and the foul from Karyzma Pierre put the Sailfish up 31 points. A little back and forth near the end of the game ended with PBA taking the 27-point victory.
The Sailfish return to the floor on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when they take the short drive down I-95 to Boca Raton to take on the Lynn Fighting Knights.
